Zamin explores the ancient Persian understanding of the Earth as a sacred element within the harmony of the universe.
In Persian heritage, the Earth was not merely the ground beneath our feet. It was a symbol of life, fertility, stability, and belonging. Ancient Persian traditions recognised that humanity existed within a greater order, one in which nature, the elements, and spiritual forces were deeply interconnected.
The symbols within the painting reflect this ancient relationship between humanity and the natural world. They are fragments of a language created by our ancestors to express gratitude, respect, and reverence for the forces that sustain life.
The Earth has always been humanity's first home. From it we receive nourishment, shelter, and the materials with which we build our civilisations. Yet ancient wisdom understood that our relationship with the Earth was not one of ownership, but of responsibility.
The Persian concept of balance—between humanity, nature, and the universe—echoes through centuries of cultural expression. It can be found in ancient traditions, poetry, gardens, and philosophies that celebrated harmony rather than domination.
Through layered forms and symbolic imagery, Zamin invites the viewer to remember a forgotten connection: that we are not separate from nature; we are an expression of it.
As part of my Art of Symbols collection, Zamin represents the foundation upon which human life is built. While Homa explores the spirit's desire to rise beyond the physical world, Zamin reminds us that wisdom begins by respecting the place where we stand.
The Earth carries the memories of every civilisation that has walked upon it. Empires rise and disappear, languages change, and generations pass—but the Earth remains.
To rediscover our roots is to rediscover our relationship with the Earth itself.
