Before there were alphabets, temples or kingdoms, there were images.

Long before humanity learned to write, our ancestors painted on cave walls to preserve their experiences, beliefs and understanding of the world. These early marks were far more than decoration. They were the first attempts to transform memory into image, experience into story, and observation into meaning. Cave art marks the beginning of humanity's visual language.

This collection is inspired by that extraordinary moment.

Rather than reproducing prehistoric paintings, these works seek to capture the spirit of humanity's earliest creative impulse. The figures, animals and symbols are reimagined through a contemporary perspective, celebrating the universal desire to communicate, remember and belong.

What continues to fascinate me about cave art is its remarkable familiarity. Although separated from us by tens of thousands of years, these anonymous artists were asking many of the same questions we ask today. They observed nature, recorded their encounters with animals, celebrated life, confronted mortality and searched for meaning beyond the visible world. Their paintings remind us that creativity has always been an essential part of being human.

The simplicity of these compositions is intentional. By reducing form to its essentials, the works echo a time when every line carried significance. Without written language, an image became memory, identity and history all at once.

This collection represents the earliest chapter in my artistic journey. It explores the moment when human imagination first left its mark upon the world. From these primitive images emerged the symbols of ancient civilisations, the myths that shaped cultures and, eventually, the stories of exploration that continue throughout my later work.
